The story behind the ceramics.

My journey into ceramics started when I inherited my Opa’s pottery equipment; his kiln, his wheel, and even buckets of clay, years old, which still held the marks of his fingers from scooping the clay out. Learning with his tools and equipment has and will continue to be, my greatest fortune. I owe my love for, and interest in, ceramics to him, I now throw my pieces under his “Claywood Studio” sign.

Born in Nottingham, I moved to Norwich as a child and lived here ever since. All of my work is hand-thrown, glazed and fired from my home “studio” (my garage..) here in Norwich. I am largely self-taught, fuelled by books, endless videos and the generous wisdom of the local pottery community (plus a wonderful foundational course at Fire And Flux in Norwich).

Pottery isn't just a craft for me; it’s where I find my peace and my purpose and it’s my absolute pleasure to share this with you.
